Workshop at Palms Hotel, Quatre Bornes

The Mauritius Council of Registered Librarians (MCRL) at its Board meeting on Thursday 17th October 2019, approved to hold a workshop for library personnel. The workshop was followed by an End-of-Year Lunch. The event held on Wednesday 11th December, 2019 at Palms Hotel, Quatre Bornes, was assisted by some 85 participants.

Two speakers addressed the event. The first speaker, Mr. Ashvin Ujhoodha, Project Manager at nVisionIT in Ebene, discussed on the topic “Digitise – The Digital Transformation Journey Simplified”. The second speaker, Miss Donna Wiss, Regional Public Engagement Specialist for American Spaces from US Embassy in Nairobi, had delivered her presentation on the topic “Reaching your public: Trends in U.S. Libraries and American Space.” Both topics discussed were about the current trends and technology in the library field.

The aim of this workshop was to enhance the personal development of the library professional and to reinforce networking among them. It was a successful event with lots of group discussions and sharing of knowledge.

After the event, the Council hosted an end-of-year lunch given that, as per traditions, it was a way to meet all members and thank them for their presence in every Council events.
